Q. Can this product teach me a specific opening? Can I force the Grandmaster to play a specific opening?

A. Yes! One of the most stunning innovations of the Grandmaster is its special ability to teach you 32 separate "book openings". Book openings are the beginning patterns of moves that have been worked out by chess masters over the centuries to be the best ways to begin a game. The Grandmaster will even score you on your memory of the moves. Use this training mode to improve your knowledge of opening play. It appears that this would be a good way to force the computer to play a specific desired opening of your choice. Say you want to practice the Sicilian. You could enter the Sicilian training mode and play the game from this point.

Out of several dozen computers I have the Excalibur is simply the finest and the best simply because it is closest to actual tournament play. Mainly the clocks and the USCF size weighted and felted pieces along with the standard Green and White squares on the standard size mat! Simply an heirloom!
